Narrative Assessment - Mathematics - 22 June 2015

Learning Observed
Today in Mathematics we were practising counting to 13. First as a group we counted together to 13. Jessica counted 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10, 11, 12, 15. I corrected her with 11, 12, 13. Next the Learners had to get 13 animals from the box, then count them to me. Jessica counted her animals to me. She again said 15 instead of 13. Jessica also had got 14 animals.

Jessica was able to count up to 12. I wonder if she practises counting past 12 at home?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Jessica is working on developing her Capabilities in counting. She was sequencing numbers in her head when counting (Thinking). Jessica was able to follow instructions and get the animals and count them (Managing Self).
Next Learning Steps
  • Continue to teach counting to 13.
  • Explicit teaching of reading numbers to 20.
  • Share learning with home.
